We provide breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack at Sprouts, using minimally processed and packaged foods. We have developed a balanced menu based on seasonal fruits and vegetables, whole grains and vegetarian sources of protein. We purchase most of our produce locally from Aloha Foods, and buy organic when we can. 

Our students help with meal preparation by cutting fruit and vegetables, sorting and washing grains and legumes, baking bread, and sometimes preparing whole meals such as soups, quesadillas or pizza! The children absolutely love being part of the meal prep!

Children are served their meals in their classrooms. They set their tables with place-mats, real dishes, glasses and napkins, and enjoy a family style meal with their friends and teachers. When they are ready to clean up, the children scrape leftovers into a compost pot, and rinse their dishes in warm bubbly water to help get them ready for the kitchen crew to place into our commercial dishwasher.

Our food program is the core of our school. The daily routines around our shared meals build a sense of community, and lay a foundation for healthy eating habits throughout life for our students.
